KMC open state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory in Kuantan

11 April 2019, Kuantan – Kuantan Medical Centre (KMC) Catheterization Laboratory (Cathlab), was officially launched today by YM Dato’ Raja Haji Idris Raja Kamarudin, Chairman of TDM Berhad cum Chairman of Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd (KMI) witnessed by more than 200 guests.

YM Dato’ Raja Haji Idris during his speech in the ceremony said that the Cathlab has been operational since last February providing the needs and services the community in Kuantan and surrounding areas.

“The Cathlab service today by KMC provides another benchmark to other hospitals belonging to us and subsequently became the catalyst for our efforts in providing the best services to all. Patients around Kuantan now have a choice in cardiac services using the latest technologies.”, he said.

He added “The increase in cases of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and so on is worrying us. According to statistics, since 2005 heart disease remains the leading cause of death of Malaysians. The study also showed that the attacks occurred in younger age in Malaysia which is 58 years compared to our neighbouring countries Thailand (65 years) and Singapore (61 years)”.

KMC is among the hospitals of TDM whereby the facilities are well equipped with the latest equipment. The services offered are indeed popular among citizens of Kuantan and neighbouring townships. Being single bedded room and strategically located just 5-minutes away from the city centre is also an attraction and one of the reasons in the increase number of patients per day as the single bedded room provide comfort and privacy to patient and families alike.

Among the services offered at KMC covers several major medical disciplines, namely, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, plastic surgery and anaesthesiology, reconstructive & gastroenterology, a 24-hour emergency services, laboratory, pharmacy, rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging such as MRI, CT Scan, mammogram, ultrasound and x-ray.

KMC currently has 155 beds, 5 operation theatres, an intensive care unit (ICU) with 12 beds and fully equipped facilities.

In addition, KMC is in the midst of planning for the construction of additional building that will accommodate 100 more beds, KMC will also introduce new services in stages such as Cancer Centre, Cardiac Rehab and also Maxilofacial Surgery.

Kuantan Medical Centre is managed by Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd (KMI), a subsidiary of TDM Berhad which also manages three (3) other private hospitals – Kuala Terengganu Specialist Hospital (KTSH), Kelana Jaya Medical Centre (KJMC) and Taman Desa Medical Centre (TDMC). The opening of the Cathlab services is a great success for KMI Healthcare in its goal to become a preferred healthcare provider in Malaysia.
